What to remember about November...

So far we have had a great month... I will have to post more "things to remember" later, as we are going to see Disney on Ice tomorrow night with Shelby's best friend Max and his mommy (my friend Kelly from work). And then there is Thanksgiving of course, and I think we may also go camping... so I will add more photos later this month. But so far we have had fun with going to a family day at the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, with Don's mom, where we got to listen to a story time, as well as watch some awesome dancers from the Soul Street Dance Company, who taught us about several elements of dance. We really loved the break dancing and hip-hop the best (so awesome!) http://www.soulstreetdance.com

The next photos on the slide show are of Shelby helping Don in the yard with her little rake (lol) and our grub worm infestation that has driven my husband cookoo! He obsesses over having a perfectly groomed yard and has now had to pull up a lot of grass in the front yard and replant new sod after poisoning the grub worms. He has killed hundreds of them. They eat the roots and kill the grass... These ugly little suckers turn into June bugs... so it is our mission this summer to kill all June bugs in site! Please help us in this endeavor... lol We must save the lawn for Pete's sake!

The last photos are from our trip to the Rennaisance Festival. Don and I have not been in several years but it holds special meaning to us, as it is where we had our first date in October of 1995. Sadly, it isn't nearly as magical as I remembered it... I guess because I was a teenager and saw the world so much differently... but I think it is also because I look at things from a Mommy perspective now, and wished there were more things for Shelby to enjoy doing. There is a kids section but I was not able to find it, after we walked around the whole place several times so we just gave up and went home, since we were all tired anyway. Shelby tried to ride the ponies but she got too scared once Don tried to set her on one. She is not into face painting yet... She was really into the ice cream though. LOL and she understood the concept of costumes better, after just going through Halloween, so she was not scared of the people in costumes, like I thought she would be. She even liked the crazy guys in all black with yellow contacts in their eyes... Weird! They were even too scary for me! The funniest part was when Shelby called the centaur a hoosie-man (hoosie is horsie) and then we found that half bird/horse that she called the bird-hoosie. She cracks me up! Overall, it was a nice time and beautiful warm weather with a great breeze... It couldn't have been a better day to go.

And last, but not least, we stopped at my cousins' house on the way home from the Festival. We got to see Dewayne and Rhonda and their awesome kids, Brandon & Bethany (almost 17 & 10 years old). I can't believe they are the same kids who were our ring bearer and flower girl in our wedding in 2003... now they are all grown up (almost). We had a great time and wish we could see them more often... They are a fun family. Well, that's about all so far. I will write more soon.

Love Always, Me
